Office and campus staff, the Ushers, and all liturgical ministers are helping to guide the parish through the restart process, and to ensure that all the criteria are met by the procedures that are being implemented.
The pews are marked to indicate appropriate seating where individuals or families can sit and yet maintain social distancing. The church cannot be filled to any greater than 50% of its posted capacity as an absolute upper limit to still maintain social distancing. Ushers will help people to sit in the right places. No person or household should sit closer than six feet to any other person or household, this means we will only be using every other pew.
Sufficient time is needed to clean the church between Masses. In addition to cleaning and disinfecting the Church between Masses we will alternate the pews used for each Mass.
The Church was sanitized for bacteria and virus removal with an anti-microbial fogging/Spray Treatment on Wednesday the 20
th of May. This will be done on a quarterly basis as long it is necessary.
Ushers and Liturgical Ministers have been formed and trained to help to direct the flow of people into and out of the church, and to clean the church between the Masses. All hymnals and missalettes have been removed from the church. Holy water fonts will remain empty.
Ushers will always be present indicating the direction of traffic flow, to assure one-way movement. In places in which people must stand in line, tape has been placed on the floor to mark out six-foot distances.
Parishioners are reminded of the need to wear masks and to maintain social distancing. Bathrooms will be closed and not accessible to attendees.
The priest, deacon and acolyte will enter and exit during public Masses through the emergency exit next to the baptismal font. There will be no processions through the Church.
The Music Ministry, A/V and streaming coordinators, Lectors and Extra-ordinary Ministers of Communion are also asked to you the same emergency exit. They will all be assigned a special place to sit during Mass.
